The Falkland Arms

Full disclosure. We discovered the The Falkland Arms, near Chipping Norton, in a bid to save a bit of money. We wanted to spend the weekend at Soho Farmhouse but we couldn't justify the £300/night + spend. Enter, The Falkland Arms. A 5 minute drive from the Farmhouse down the most idyllic of Cotswold country lanes, you enter the tiny village of Great Tew. In its heart stands the beautiful 16th Century Inn, The Falkland Arms.

Flagstone floors, oak beams, a ceiling covered in antique beer tankards and an inglenook fire cracking in the corner - if you're looking for quintessentially English, you'll find it right here.

There are 6 rooms in the Inn and a small and very quaint thatch cottage, which we stayed in.

With a little kitchen and sitting room downstairs and a comfortable en suite bedroom looking onto the surrounding fields upstairs, we couldn't have wanted for more. And all for the grand price of £90/night. For anyone visiting Soho Farmhouse, shhh - you can stay here.

It's also a great location for exploring the famous Cotswolds villages that attract throngs of tourists from around the world. Upper & Lower Slaughter, Burford, Bibury and Bourton-on-the-water are all nearby.
